Suggest some Good Beginner Guitar for Metal?

Well from what I've seen if its metal I would go for the ESP, the ones ive played sound quite dark and crunchy even with a clean tone, Strats have a much brighter sound and les pauls have a wider sorta bluesy sound, but one of my mates has a GRX20 and they sound pretty nice once you get some effects layered, and if hes not exclusively a metal fan the GRX20 would be more versatile than the ESP's darker sound.
