A lot of people are so critical but I totally get why you were afraid to date this guy even though you liked him. When you date a guy that every girl wants it brings unnecessary drama your way. He likes you and you shot him down so his male ego has him asking you about your friend, but he's really doing it to make you jealous. If you really like him you need to forget about the other girls at your school hating on you and let him know how you feel. You have nothing to lose since he did tell he liked you first and you shot him down.
