I need to break up some large boulders behind my cottage. Any ideas? They are too big to physically move.?

I have heard you can burn them out but open fires are not permitted. Would a hammer drill be able to drill into granite? I was thinking if you could drill holes in them you could pour in water and hope the freezing action over the winter would do the trick. I know there is a product that expands in drilled holes and breaks up concrete but that wold be very expensive for the job I have to do. All suggestions are appreciated.
