Can I get out of this lease and all the legal actions taken upon me? ?

Contact the landlord to see if you are on a sublease. Ask her to give you a copy of the lease if you are on it. If your lucky the landlord doesnt know about the sublease and the original tenant would be in violation of their lease. Usually tenants cannot make a sublease it has to be the landlord.
