Was Moses murdered by the gold worshippers and his book changed by his murderers to what it is today?

I mean come on, a prophet who spent 40 yrs trying to make the gold worshippers die off, but they grew exponentially, be not allowed to enter without any description of his death. Come on, seems like the gold worshippers did not like what they heard that they could not enter.
