Is this a perfect example of what is wrong with our government today?

Absolutely not. A presidential candidate has to be prepared to have their entire lives examined. The American people decide what is significant enough to prevent them for voting for someone. John Kerry lost the last election because when he was young, he went before congress and called American soldiers baby killers. The American people will stand for someone attacking our troops, verbally or otherwise.
